Is it possible to change the default browser for all links on iPhone?

Asked Dec 14, 2024, 10:07 AM Viewed 1385 times

I recently started using an iPhone, and I prefer using Chrome over Safari. When I open links from apps, they automatically open in Safari. Is there a way to set Chrome as the default browser for all links? I want to make sure every link I open goes to Chrome instead of Safari, whether it's from email, social media apps, or elsewhere. How can I achieve this?

First, make sure you have Google Chrome installed on your iPhone.

Go to your iPhone's Settings.

Find and select the Chrome app from the list of apps.

You will see an option for "Default Browser App" under Chrome's settings.

Tap on Chrome to set it as your default browser.

Once you've completed these steps, all the links you click on will open in Chrome instead of Safari. This feature was introduced in iOS 14, so make sure your device is updated to at least this version. If you haven't upgraded your iOS, you will need to do so to change your default browser.

Before anything, download and install Chrome from the App Store if you haven’t already.

Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 14 or later. Check for updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Open your iPhone's Settings, scroll down to find Chrome, and tap on it.

In the Chrome settings menu, tap "Default Browser App" and select Chrome.

Now, whenever you click on a link, it will open using Chrome by default instead of Safari. Remember, this feature wasn’t available in earlier iOS versions, so updating is essential.

  1. Install Chrome from the App Store if you haven't already.

Make sure your device is up to date by checking in Settings > General > Software Update.

  1. Navigate to Settings and scroll to find Chrome.

Select "Default Browser App" and choose Chrome.

After completing these steps, any links you open from various apps will automatically open in Chrome instead of Safari. This feature applies to email, social media apps, and any other apps where you encounter web URLs.
