How to hide apps on Android without uninstalling them?

Asked Dec 21, 2024, 11:08 AM Viewed 1195 times

I want to hide some apps on my Android phone without uninstalling them. These apps are frequently used by others who borrow my phone, and I'd like to keep them private. What methods or applications can I use to achieve this without completely removing the apps? Is there a way to do it natively on Android, or do I need a third-party app? Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

  • Open the "App Drawer."

    • Tap on the three dots icon in the upper-right corner and select "Home screen settings."
    • Scroll down and tap "Hide apps."
    • Select the apps you want to hide and tap "Apply."
  • Open the "App Drawer."

    • Swipe right to access the Hidden Space.
    • Tap on the "+" icon and select the apps you want to hide.

If your device doesn't support native app hiding, you can use third-party launchers like Nova Launcher.

  • Install Nova Launcher from the Google Play Store.
  • Set it as your default launcher.
  • Open Nova Settings > App & widget drawers.
  • Scroll down to "Hide Apps" and select the apps you wish to hide.

Nova Launcher offers extensive customization, making it a popular choice for many users.

While App Lock apps primarily focus on securing your apps with a password or fingerprint, some of them offer features to hide apps.

  • AppLock by DoMobile Lab

    • Norton App Lock

Simply download one of these apps and follow the setup to lock or hide your desired applications.

  • Go to "Settings" on your device.

    • Enter "Biometrics and security."
    • Tap "Secure Folder" and follow the prompts to set it up.
  • Open "Secure Folder."

    • Tap "Add apps" and select the apps you wish to hide.
    • These apps will now only be accessible through the Secure Folder, which can be locked with a pattern, PIN, password, or biometric lock.

This method is beneficial if your main concern is privacy and you only want privileged access to certain apps.

  • Download and install Parallel Space.
    • Open the app and choose the apps you want to clone.
    • Once cloned, you can delete or hide the primary apps.

Parallel Space also offers a private install feature to hide apps from your main list, thus keeping them invisible to others using your device.
