How to transfer WhatsApp from Android to iPhone

Asked Dec 17, 2024, 07:55 AM Viewed 571 times

I recently switched from an Android phone to an iPhone and I would like to transfer my WhatsApp data, including messages, photos, and videos, over to the new device. I've heard that moving WhatsApp data between different operating systems isn't easy. Can someone guide me on how to do this effectively and without losing any data? Is there a trusted app or method that you recommend?

  • Ensure both devices are fully charged and connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Update WhatsApp to the latest version on both devices.
  • On your iPhone, download and install the 'Move to iOS' app on your Android device from the Google Play Store.

**

  • During the iPhone setup process (if not set up, you may need to reset or erase your iPhone), choose the 'Move Data from Android' option.
  • Open the 'Move to iOS' app on your Android device, follow the prompts until you receive a code.
  • Enter the code on your Android device, connect both devices, and select WhatsApp from the list of data to be moved.

**

  • Once your iPhone setup is complete, download WhatsApp from the App Store.
  • Verify your phone number and, when prompted, tap 'Restore Chat History'.

This method should successfully transfer your WhatsApp chat history, photos, and videos.

  • If the above method doesn't work or you are encountering issues, you can also use third-party applications like 'Dr.Fone - WhatsApp Transfer'.
    1. Download and install the software on your desktop.
    2. Connect both devices to your computer.
    3. Follow the software prompts to transfer your data.

These third-party apps are generally safe, but ensure you download them from trusted sources to protect your data.

I hope this helps!

**

  • Go to WhatsApp > Menu Button > Settings > Chats > Chat Backup.
  • Select 'Backup'.

**

  • Install the 'Move to iOS' app on your Android device from the Google Play Store.
  • Make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • During iPhone setup, look for the 'Apps & Data' screen and choose 'Move Data from Android'.
  • Launch 'Move to iOS' on Android, follow instructions, and enter a code displayed on the iPhone.
  • Select WhatsApp from the list and transfer.

**

  • Install WhatsApp on your iPhone.
  • Sign in using the same phone number and tap 'Restore Chat History' to complete the process.

If the default options don’t help, third-party apps like 'Tenorshare iCareFone' or 'AnyTrans' are good alternatives. They offer a similar walkthrough.

Keep in mind that some media may not be transferred perfectly, so double-check your chats to ensure everything’s intact.

Good luck with your new iPhone!
